Deep Breathing: Deep breathing is the most basic technique used in relaxation and is often the foundation for all other methods of relaxation. The primary benefit of this technique is that it can be used anytime anywhere. It is beneficial to practice deep breathing several times a day. The methodology consists of completely filling the lungs when breathing so that the abdomen expands outward. Begin by taking a deep breath and then exhaling slowly through the mouth. A hand can be placed on the stomach to ensure that it is fully expanded. If the hand does not rise, the breath is not deep enough or the abdomen is being held to tightly. Repeat this cycle several times and then rest quietly for 3-5 minutes. | Do Now: Zen Clap Learning Targets: We will identify our sources of stress and select strategies for managing stress. *I will identify my personal sources of stress. * I will view stress as holding potential for personal growth. *I will select strategies for managing stress *I will develop a time management plan Seed Questions: What is stress?
